Survey Finds Scots Continue To Be Canny With Credit

A recent survey by the pollsters YouGov, has found he out of the four countries in the UK, the Scots are more likely to stay clear of taking on any sort of credit and prefer to keep a close eye on the way that they spend their hard earned cash and what they spend it on.

This is not to say that the Scots are living up to the stereo type that so many in south make them out to be, as tight with deep pockets and short arms, this is simply not the case.

The poll found that Londoners were more carefree when it comes to splashing the cash, with a 23% of those surveyed saying that they regularly use a credit card to make the purchases that they are making, while 13% of Scots would use their credit cards on a regular basis, with people from Wales and the Midlands sitting somewhere in between those two.

The reason for this is being put down to the fact that the Scots are a little less image conscious and showy than their cousins in the south, who are more careless with their earnings, with another statistic from the poll showing that when it comes to withdrawing cash, the Scots just need to have a little cash in their pockets, where the Londoners, are shown to withdraw amounts of £100 or more, meaning the chance of them over spending on extravagances and things like clothes, that they don’t particularly need, is a lot higher.

These things are being put down to the Scots being less image driven and more down to earth, than those in the south who are more scatter cash with their money. With the difference in the standard of living and higher salaries in places like London, maybe having an affect on the psyche of the Scots, meaning that they are frugal with the way that they deal with their cash, with less Scots willing to go into credit and to actually own a credit card.
