Credit Cards – The Choice Is Yours

If you are looking to save money on your credit card and you don’t wish to go down the balance transfer route, well the only logical way to do this is by jumping to another credit card that has a lower interest rate than the card that you already own.

Though there is another way and most if not all of us would think of trying and when I suggest it you will probably not realise that the credit card that you have in your possession right not could be subject to being changed.

It is all quite simple really, if you are more than happy with the current service that you are getting with your current credit card issuer and feel the only reason that you are wanting to jump ship is for a lower interest rate, then why don’t you simply call your present lender and ask, yes it is that simple and believe me if you are as god a customer as you think, then the chances are you will be granted your wish, as most credit card companies are trying to attract custom, not lose it.

Before you go running for the telephone prepare yourself first. The first thing to do is have a list of the potential credit cards that are offering a cheaper APR, so that you can use them as a guide to get your point across to your credit card issuer, that you have research what you can get elsewhere.

This doesn’t mean that you attack the person on the other side of the phone, with what you can get from other credit cards and blind them with a load of figures. The best way to go about is by saying that you are a good customer and would like to stay as a customer, if they could see to lowering your current interest rate. Always be calm and have ready the things that you want to say and compliment the service that they have given you over the years.

If they say that they will not or cannot, reduce your interest rate, then the next plan of action is the list of credit cars that you have lined up. With so many credit cards on the market giving 0% periods, the choice is there for all to see. State that you are unhappy about this and that you are going to switch to another credit card issuer and let them know of the details of which you have in front of you, this will usually do the trick, as the credit card issuer will see that you are serious with your threats and like I have said loosing customers is not what they want.
