With more and more people now putting credit cards in their wallets and purses, many feel that the need for good old-fashioned cash could be about to go the way of the dinosaur and become extinct.
With the introduction of Chip and Pin, it is now being regarded that more people will feel a lot more secure when it comes to dealing with credit cards, so the need to carry cash will not be as such as a necessity as it once was, as most places all over the modern world, accepts credit cards for any sort of purchase, no matter how big or small.
The feeling that the new Chip and Pin system, with the added security that it will bring to your spending, will give the customer a greater feeling of trust in the credit card, which has seen the old metallic strip credit cards being open to abuse from thieves, who have been the sole factor of the spiral of cost that has been incurred by the credit card companies and banks, who have hopefully found a way that will reduce this by 60% or more.
But don’t rule out the power of the use of money just yet, as it is more than likely that it will be around for a long time yet and it’s demise in some peoples eyes, is not as steadfast as they think it is. Most of us still pay for everyday items such as the newspaper, a pint of milk and a loaf of bread for example, that most of us would never dream of using our credit cards for and according to the Association of Payment Clearing Services, more than three quarters of us still use cash to pay for goods, meaning that it is still the king of the castle for now.
Though it is expected by the year 2009, the amount of people who will use cash as a means of payment, will dwindle to around the 62% mark in the period of time, as we feel better with the feel of a little piece of plastic not making the same sort of ugly bulge in our pockets, the same way that a hand full of loose change will.
The power of the credit card is starting to eat away at the king (cash) and will do so as the technology of the credit card market becomes more and more advanced and with the introduction of such things as an electronic purse, which will let us buy those everyday goods that we purchase, without even thinking about it.
