UK Credit Card Debt On The Rise

Do you really know what level of debt that you have, or the exact amount of what you actually owe? If not then you may be or already have been a prime target for identity fraud.

It is believed that more than half of all Britons who have some level of debt could only give a rough estimate of what they owed, as they were unsure and to make matters worse, 15% of the people simply don’t have a clue on what their financial situation is. All of this short sightedness could be down to the fact that, credit in any form be it a credit card or personal loan, is so easy to come by these days as credit companies seem a little less picky, when it comes to dishing out credit.

This means that with people not knowing the extent of their debt, then how are they meant to keep tabs on any fraud that may have been made on their credit cards and it is all down to the apathy towards debt by the British consumer, who will simply bury their head in the sand and live more in ignorance than hope, that everything will be fine.

The rise in Identity Fraud is on the increase, so the fact is that those of us who are not as fussy when it comes to keeping our debt to a manageable level, will run more of a risk of not spotting it if it was to happen and with 80% of those who don’t have a clue on what they owe, saying that the fact that they don’t know what their debt is, say that they don’t worry about it either, as it’s not a problem that they think that they have.

Most people regard that if they are paying their bills on time and can do so quite comfortably, don’t have a problem with managing their debt, that is fine if you are working and meeting your payments fairly easily, but what if, should always be in the back of your mind when it comes to debt, then a change on dealing with your finances should be on the cards, so to speak.

The fact that you may not know the extent of your debt should be worrying enough, but the threat of not knowing that some crook is helping themselves to your hard earned cash, should really make you sit up and take notice on where you heading and dealing with your debt in more ways than one, is a necessity.
